Its allure could be put down to the revitalising qualities of the sea air, or the picture-perfect landscape and hiking trails. However, the main draw is the impressive foodie scene. Escape to Sophie
Valentina – Market Street, Merimbula
An effortlessly stylish restaurant overlooking the water. A dreamy spot for a special occasion, you’ll find mouth-watering dishes on the menu such as whipped cod roe, crushed crunchy potatoes and honey ice cream with mango, macadamia & tapioca.
Bar Beach Kiosk – Lake St, Merimbula
Super cute wooden shack overlooking the inlet to Merimbula and out towards Merimbula Main Beach. A favourite for early-rising locals with great coffee and a simple breakfast menu.
Dulcie’s Cottage – Main St, Merimbula
Located in a converted weatherboard cottage this local burger joint heroes South Coast produce and craft beer. In the summer, sit outside under the Jacaranda Tree and in the winter cosy up in front of the fire.
Wild Rye’s Baking Co. – Quondola St, Pambula
Using beans from around the corner at Wild Rye’s Roastery this cafe is a must-stop for all your baked goods needs. With artisan bread, pies, cakes, pastries there is something for everyone, perfectly complemented by an expertly made coffee.
Longstocking Brewery – Princes Hwy, Pambula
This small scale brewery is located in the rustic Oaklands Barn, a collection of local businesses including a cafe and garden store. Order some of the local oysters with your beer (or try one of the many gin cocktails) and kick back for some live music.

Near the entrance to Merimbula Lake, you’ll find this great swimming spot. In the summer, you can grab a coffee or a healthy bite from Bar Beach Kiosk, one of the region’s most famous eateries.
